Swimming Pool Demolition & Removal

Our 7 Step Process for Pool Removal
1. Develop a plan: We first provide a free in-person estimate to develop a demolition plan that best fits your end goal. There are usually two different methods to demolish a pool:
- Partial demolition: This is the least expensive option and involves breaking the borders of the pool and punching drainage holes at bottom of pool. The remaining shell of the pool gets buried on-site. This method does not allow you to build anything structural in the area – i.e., ADUs, garages, etc.
- Full Demolition: Completely remove the pool. With this option a geotechnical engineer will oversee the backfill and compaction process, and the area will be suitable for future structural builds.
2. Obtain city permit: Our team can handle all the paperwork to obtain the required city permit. From drawing the site plan to filling out the building permit application, our team of experts can handle all the legal stuff when it comes to Pool Demolition in Bay Area.
3. Drain the pool: We follow the city’s recommendations to properly and safely drain the remaining water in the pool before starting any work. This usually involves using a water pump to drain the water into the sewer line.
4. Disconnect utilities: Safely disconnecting utility lines going to the swimming pool is a critical step needed for any successful pool demolition. Our team will safely cut and cap gas, electrical, and water lines in order to pass city inspection and maintain the site safe.
5. Demolition of the pool: Depending on the type of demolition established in step 1, this part usually takes 1-3 days to complete. We use specialized demolition equipment to get the job done quickly. Jackhammers, excavators and skid steers with attachments, concrete saw cutters, are some of the tools we use.
6. Backfill, compaction, and grading: We import only clean fill dirt or other approved materials to backfill the pool. We pay a lot of attention to compaction as this is a very important step to prevent any future problems such as ground sinking and swelling.
7. The final clean up and inspection: Our team will schedule the final inspection required by the city and meet them onsite. After final inspection has passed, we will do the final clean up and hopefully leave the site better than how we found it 🙂
